Description
Sidra Trabanco is a traditional asturian cider from Gijon. This cloudy flat cider is normally poured from above head hight into a glass held at hip hight to get air into the cider and to release the wonderful flavours.
It is still served in the original shape of bottle used in the 1920s.

Drinking this takes me right back to our holiday in Asturias. Be sure to pour it like a true escanciador to get the most out of it – you need to aerate it a little or you may find it a little sour or sharp. We had a lesson on how to pour properly: hold the glass at about 45 degrees slightly in front of or next to you at hip height, hold the bottle above your head and very slowly pour it into the glass so that it hits the edge of the glass and ‘breaks’ on it – this will aerate it. Only pour a small amount at a time (a culin) and drink immediately. To be a master, look straight ahead while pouring and never at the bottle or glass – best practised outside!
